What is the gospel and why do we need it?
Are you a child of God? Many in today's world believe that we are all God's children, but the Bible is clear that only those born of the Holy Spirit are actually God's children (John 1:12-13). You see, God is good, and He created a good creation and man and woman in His image to steward and enjoy His creation (Genesis 1-2). Unfortunately, Adam disobeyed God (Genesis 3) and the consequences of his disobedience affected all mankind. The Apostle Paul says it like this in Romans 5:12: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through the one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned "(CSB). You may be thinking, "I'm guilty because of something Adam did?" The answer is "yes," and you would have done the same if you were Adam. Since we are born separated from God, Paul says in Ephesians 2:3 that we are "by nature children under wrath..." (CSB). Sounds like a hopeless situation? Well, if it were not for the good news of Jesus Christ it would be hopeless indeed. However, the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 that "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according the the Scriptures..." (CSB). And, you can receive the free gift of salvation by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8) if you believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again from the grave. Trust Christ today for the forgiveness of your sins and follow Him as the Lord of your life and He will give you New Life in Him (Romans 6:4)!
